The event spanned over two days and more than 200 students from various different colleges across Punjab participated to learn about the CAD and IC Engines in the workshops being conducted. The atmosphere was exciting as the workshops came to the finishing end with winning moments.
The two day workshop cum championship was inaugurated by S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Pro Chancellor-GNA University and CEO GNA Gears with the lamp lighting ceremony. On the occasion, he wished luck to the participants and expressed his gratitude to the Team Entrench for organizing the workshops to test the student skills. He also gave his best wishes to the organizing team for the marvellous effort.
Exodia is the annual techno-cultural fest of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi and it is going to commence from 7th to 9th April, 2017. Exodia has grown to be one of the largest student-run college fests of the Himalayas and attracts a lot of crowd from all over North India. Over the two days of the event, there were two different workshops that tested the student skills in different methods. While The CAD workshop focused upon the basics of working in CAD software and the teams went through an initial written quiz test and then a practical session to prove their mettle. The CAD practical tested the teams for design accuracy, speed and teamwork. On the other hand, the Automobile and IC Engines Workshop sessions focused upon the various technologies in use in automobiles and the teams were screened through a written test round which comprised of analytical questions and numerical. The best teams went onto the practical round where the hands on knowledge of the teams were tested.
During the event, Mr. C.R. Tripathy, Dean-Faculty of Design and Innovation stressed upon the need to learn the new technologies for the young engineers to survive in the current industrial scenario. He focussed upon how the industries have gone far ahead in technical superiority while the study curriculums have not changed much over the time. Addressing to this issue, he urged the students to take initiative and learn the technologies like CAD, CAM, CAE, PLM, FDM, Rapid Prototyping and many others for securing better job opportunities in the industries.
The Team from Entrench Electronics congratulated S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra for providing the remarkable infrastructure for the students to learn. They also admitted to have come across students that were very quick in understanding the fundamentals of the workshops.
They appreciated the students for putting in their best effort to finish in the winners list. For the Automobile mechanics and IC Engines competition, the team from GNA University won the 1st prize while the teams from Sri Sai College of Engineering and Technology and C.T. Institute of Engineering and Management Technology won the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. While the team from C.T.
