Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University Celebrated International Chefs Day 2017
Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University celebrated International Chefs Day 2017. A Chefs Parade was organised by more than 500 faculty and student chefs in Phagwara city to make people aware about food wastage.
SDM Phagwara-Ms Jyoti Bala Matoo and S. Malkit Singh Raghvotra, Chairman Blood Bank Phagwara raised the green flag to move chef’s parade within the Phagwara city. SDM Mam conveyed chefs to follow standard operating procedures to prepare safe and hygienic food. She also appreciated the chefs to support Phagwara Administration in providing food hygiene training to food vendors in the city. Student chefs raised the slogans of hate waste and love food, they also shared food wastage figures through posters.
On this occasion, S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Pro Chancellor and Vice Chancellor, Dr Prem Kumar, GNA University motivated the efforts of students and faculty and also honoured the chefs and cooks of various hotels and restaurants of Phagwara to recognize their profession.
Deputy Dean-Faculty of Hospitality, Chef Varinder Singh Rana shared the theme of International Chefs Day 2017- Food for Healthy Heroes amongst budding chefs. Chef Paramjeet Singh and team of budding chefs prepared 250 packets of Healthy food which were distributed to students of primary schools to make them aware about healthy food components.
Chef Dhiraj Pathak, Chef Amandeep Kumar, Chef Ashish Raina, Chef Arjun Partap, Chef Mohammad Kayammudin also took initiative to make this event successful.
