GNA University Organized Punjab Karaoke Competition – PKC 2017

‘Punjab Karaoke Competition’ organised by GNA University stirred up a storm which witnessed karaoke lovers who came together in large numbers crooning their favourite numbers at KL Saigal Memorial Hall, Jalandhar. It was an initiative by Faculty of Film Television and Media, GNA University in association with KL Saigal Memorial Trust, Jalandhar.

Gursaran Singh -MD, GNA Group, S Gurdeep Singh Sihra- Pro-Chancellor GNA University & CEO GNA Gears Ltd, Dr Prem Kumar- Vice Chancellor, GNA University, Mr. Sukhdev Raj- President KL Saigal Trust, Mr. Baljit Singh Mahal – Chairman Jalandhar Improvement Trust, Mr S.S Ajimal- Secretary KL Saigal Trust, Prof. Mahajan – Principal DAV College, Mr. Sunil Sarad- Registrar, GNA University Mr. Sushil Sharma- Dean, Faculty of Film Television and Media and Mr. Pamil Arora- Head, Faculty of Film Television and Media . The judges for the event were Mr. Keemti Lal – ASD Doordarshan, Mr. Kuljeet Singh – Music Director and Mr. Ashu Koti – Singer and Composer.

The objective of the competition was to unleash the singing talent from different parts of Punjab that would create a platform and awareness for the young budding talent. The evening attracted a lot of participation from the students and gave a good reason to bring out their talent and make their voices heard. The competition was conducted in two rounds and 10 winners from Preliminary round got success and stepped in the Final round.

S Gursaran Singh- MD GNA Group and Dr Prem Kumar, Vice Chancellor welcomed all the participants in the first edition of Punjab Karaoke Competition. They said that they truly believe that this is an excellent platform for all aspiring amateur singers all around to showcase their talent and ensured that GNA University will always help the youth to realise their talent and fulfil their dreams by conducting such events in the future too. They also paid tribute and expressed their gratitude in the memory of KL Saigal. Dr Prem Kumar also invited the audience to be a part of the upcoming event ‘Punjab Film Festival’ in the month of April.

Mr. Keemti Lal – ASD Doordarshan, Mr. Kuljeet Singh – Music Director and Mr. Ashu Koti – Singer and Composer, gave mesmerising performances and the audience had a great opportunity to enjoy and live, various traditional as well as contemporary songs.

WinnersPrabhjot Singh from Govt College Hoshiarpur won the first prize and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 21,000 and a winning trophy. The participant named Kami from Khalsa College for women Jalandhar bagged the second prize and received cash prize of Rs. 11,000 along with 1st runners up trophy. Third prize was secured by Shubham Batra from Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar who received a cash prize of Rs. 5,100 & 2nd runners-up trophy. A prize on special recommendation was given to Bhupinder from Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar and Muskan Jaitley from Govt Girls College received Consolation prize. Certificates were also given to all the participants.
