GNA University set up a record of Maximum Types of Halwa Preparations (200+)
Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University set up a mark record of maximum types of Halwa preparations (213 Halwas) in 3 hours. A team of 51 student chefs and 8 Faculty chefs lead by Chef Varinder Singh Rana, Deputy Dean-Faculty of Hospitality worked together for three hours for preparation of maximum types of halwas. Chefs used 210 different types of ingredients for the Preparation of 213 types of raitas. This is the fourth record of Faculty of Hospitality as the First record of Longest Kathi Roll was prepared on January 12, 2017, second record of the longest sandwich of the state (151 feet long) was prepared on March 27, 2017 and third record of Maximum types of raita preparations (561 types). All the records have been published in Limca Book of Records.
Chef Varinder Singh Rana, Deputy Dean-Faculty of Hospitality praised the efforts of faculty and dedicated this achievement to aspiring chefs. Chef Rana told that the idea of making this record was shared by Honourable Pro-Chancellor, S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra.
S. Gurdeep Singh told that halwa is one of the popular sweet in India and it has unique approach in all traditional functions. He admired Faculty of Hospitality to create sweet memories with the preparations of this huge record.
Mrs Jasleen Kaur Seehra, Nutrition Expert and Chef Sanjeev Hota, Executive Chef, Hotel Maya Jalandhar witnessed and verified the record. Mrs Seehra congratulated the staff and students for creating a big and successful achievement and conveyed that such kind of feats boost self-confidence amongst professionals to think and achieve big.
The Preparations of halwas were done in the presence of more than 500 audiences including GNA faculty, staff and students. Faculty of Hospitality has approached Limca Book of Records authorities (Now Hachette India) to document this record. As a norm, documentary evidence of the attempt has already sent and accepted by Limca Book of Records.
Faculty Chef Dhiraj Pathak, Chef Amandeep Kumar, Chef Ashish Raina, Chef Mohammad Kayammudin, Chef Vinod kumar, Chef Gurango Mondal and Chef Tarun were the record holders along with 51 student chefs who prepared all the halwas.
On this occasion, Mr Kunal Bains, Dy. Registrar GNA University, Ms Monika Hanspal, Assistant Dean- Systems, Mr Sameer Varma, Assistant Dean- Academic outreach, Dr Abhineet Goyal, Assistant Dean- Academic Affairs, Dr Disha Khanna, Deputy Dean and Mr Abhishek Dhawan, IT Head, Praveen Kumar and Mr Gaurav Bathla were also present.
