Diploma in Cardiac Care Technology
Diploma in Cardiac Care Technology is a specialized field within allied health sciences that focuses on the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of cardiovascular diseases using advanced medical technologies. With cardiovascular disorders becoming one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, there is an increasing demand for skilled professionals who can assist cardiologists in providing accurate diagnosis and effective cardiac care.
At the Department of Medical Diagnostics and Technology, School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences (SAHS), Diploma in Cardiac Care Technology (DCCT) program is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, cardiac diagnostics, and modern cardiac care technologies.
The program combines theoretical knowledge with intensive practical training, enabling students to develop the technical expertise required to operate cardiac diagnostic equipment such as ECG machines, echocardiography systems, cardiac monitors, and stress testing devices. Students are also trained to assist in cardiac catheterization procedures, monitor critically ill cardiac patients, and interpret basic cardiac rhythms under clinical supervision.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are equipped to work efficiently as part of multidisciplinary cardiac care teams in hospitals, cardiac centers, and research institutions.
Comprehensive Clinical Exposure
Recognizing the importance of practical experience in developing competent healthcare professionals, the program places strong emphasis on hands-on clinical training and hospital exposure.
- Campus Laboratory: Each lecture session is complemented by structured practical laboratory training to strengthen technical and diagnostic skills.
- Hospital Visits and Clinical Training: Regular visits and clinical postings are organized at reputed partner hospitals, including:
- Fortis Healthcare
- Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS)
- SPS Hospitals
- Max Healthcare
These experiences allow students to gain real-world exposure to cardiac diagnostic procedures, patient monitoring systems, and advanced cardiac care environments.
Career Pathways
Diploma holders of the Cardiac Care Technology program can pursue a wide range of careers in the rapidly growing field of cardiovascular healthcare, including:- Cardiac Care Technologist
- Cardiology Technician
- Cardiovascular Technologist
- ECG and Stress Test Technician
- Echocardiography Technician
- Cardiac Catheterization Lab Technician
- Cardiac ICU Technician
