Workshop on Siemens PLM and Reverse Engineering
12-02-2018

The Faculty of Design and Innovation of GNA University organized seminar on Siemens PLM and Reverse Engineering. Siemens is a world-leading provider of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Manufacturing Operations Management software solutions. The main focus of this workshop is on 3D Scanner. The key speaker of the workshop was Mr. PuneetDharDwivedi. He explained about PLM Components. PLM Components are 3D software development toolkits that increase the value of CAD, CAM, CAE, FDM and related PLM applications by reducing the time, cost and risk of delivering 3D software innovation.

Workshop includes live demonstration of 3D Scanner and complete working which involves scanning the component and handling the point cloud data and generating CAD model based on the scanned data. They also demonstrated theGenerative Design by Siemens PLM.

About 250 Students of B.Tech Mechanical and Automation, Robotics and Automation, Post Diploma in CAD/CAM and Certificate Program in Integrated CAD/CAM were present in the session. Already the academic curriculum is more practical oriented so thesekinds of workshops will boost their confidence in positive direction.Mr. Dwivedi said that the students have excellent hold in advanced engineering design techniques using latest CAD/CAM/CAE/FDM Technology i.e. CATIA, CREO, NX and FESTO’s Design/Manufacturing/Simulation Solutions, so it was easy for them to grab the concept of Reverse Engineering and working methodologies. He also discussed with Mr. C.R. Tripathy, (Dean – Faculty of Design and Innovation) about the projects done with sunbeam castingfor Hero Honda and Maruti Suzuki were the milestones.

Mr. Dwivedi congratulated S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, (CEO – GNA Gears, Pro Chancellor – GNA University) for setting up this kind of educational infrastructure to provide skill-based learning programs for the budding engineers.
