VISIT TO RANJIT SAGAR DAM

On 29th November 2016 students of  B.Tech- Civil Engineering (3rd and 5th Semester)g and Mechanical Engineering (5th Semester) visited Ranjit Sagar Dam (Thein Dam) Shahpur Kandi , Pathankot.

Students visited area of Irrigation department and  PSPCL area (Power House).
During the visit students experience the real working environment of the dam and the equipments installed there and were able to understand functions of water conductor system (Tunnels, Penstocks), Turbines-Vertical shafts Francis type and generators. Students learnt about rock filling in dam bodies, Spillways, downstream-upstream of dams, complicated civil engineering RCC structures of  Dam body and power house.
